Ferritin levels

having read a few threads on here I didn't want to hijack one so here's one of my own!
My ferrtin is 10.2 which I have been told by the GP is "normal". I do have a low red blood cell count (this has been the case for years).
I have chronic health issues and I have put down the fatigue and other odd symptoms like restless itchy legs to that.
I am reluctant to take iron supplements as I have bowel issues and don't want to cause another blockage as I am under threat of bowel resection.
I am wondering if 10.2 is a bit on the low side and if there are any bowel friendly supplements.
I eat an appalling diet - my other conditions mean I can no longer safely prepare food and I can't really afford to buy pre prepared stuff every day.

It is on the low side. Iron bisglycinate is the easiest form to digest so you could try that.

Yes it’s insufficient, your GP is a knob. You should be aiming for 75-100

Nhs have a much lower acceptable level than other European places…. You will feel like shite at 10. By the way blood transfusion is considered not far off 10!!
