Insurance procedure code changed after surgery

I did a surgery via my insurance. My consultant shared the procedure code (say ABC) which is pre-approved from the insurance.

Now after the surgery is done, the consultant changed the procedure code to XYZ though the treatment plan didnt get changed at all.

Not sure why Dr changed the procedure code after the surgery. The new procedure code costs less than the first one.

I am feeling so disappointed and totally worried now because I am not sure if the insurance company is going to approve the new procedure code as they got lot of exclusion criteria. What can I do now ?

You're referring to ICD 10 codes that get used to identify the treatment, as well as used for the consultant to bill against according to their contracts and what the insurer will pay them for.

it's not likely an issue, though you make it sound like you went in for eye survey and they removed a bunyon instead.

You did actually have the planned treatment right?

So you can either contact your insurer and let them know, or just let the insurer work it out with the consultant. It's not like you had any influence over it, is it?

@YoBeaches Thats the planned treatment :)

Wondering if I can ask the consultant to use the original preapproved code.

Or ask him why it changed... it may be a minor point of something not required or medicines not give then mean a diff code is better for invoicing.
