Just wondering how quickly ypu can catch scarlet fever after the first infection. My ds 7 was diagnosed on 7th November. He came out in a rash on Monday. GP anx pharmacist say its viral. Its not as rough as SF but I can't help but wonder. Any advice appreciated

Oh that's tricky, was he swabbed and given anti biotics?

it's a reaction to strep . From personal experience children can get it again but I can't remember how long it was between infections. I think ds had it twice last year but both times I realised in retrospect as he wasn't that bad and he didn't get antibiotics.

I must say the rash has been different with both children each time they have it . There are also a lot of strange viruses around that cause rashes.

Maybe keep an eye on him and if he doesn't improve in a couple of days, or deteriorates a lot, ask Gp to swab to make sure (though I think they have to give antibiotics too if they do.)

He wasn't swabbed but he did have the 10 day course of antibiotics. I'm trying not to fret about things as he's perfectly well in himself. I definitely will take him back if he's still got the rash.
Thank you for replying @WarriorN. Glad your ds recovered. It's so difficult this time of year with different viruses going around.

If he's well in himself I wouldn't worry about it, probably another random viral thing.
