dd complained of a pain in her middle bottom tooth yesterday. I had a look and it is quite wobbly. She is only 4.5! Any thoughts/advice?

Don't worry - my ds lost his first one at about this age - I too was worried until I searched here and found they lose them at all different ages.

Yes my DD lost her bottom two at 4.5 too, I was worried too that it was too early. Took her to the dentist who said it was fine and quite normal, and not an indication that she'd have crap teeth. HTH.

Oh thanks all - dd in tears bless her. A kind lady in Sainsburys reminded her about the tooth fairy which I had completely forgotten about in my angst! Can't see any sign of a new one yet.

Another quick question - should I take her to the dentist? She is in pain and finding it hard to eat/brush teeth etc.

How long ago did she lose it? I'd give it a day or two before going to the dentist.

liahgen · 16/03/2008 19:34

did she get her teeth fairly early? as there does seem to be some indication of coming early, losing early. Well so my dentist told me anyway.

It'll come out soon enough, just let her brush gently, eat to the side of her mouth, and wobble it all she likes.

I think they are unused to the wobbly sensation and it is a wee bit painful so I don't think it's anything to worry about.

My dd's first loose tooth didn't come out for weeks if not months - in fact her new tooth grow up behind it and eventually pushed it out, so she had no gap. We got her a tooth fairy book, made a big fuss of grown up she was. She now loves having loose teeth and loves the tooth fairy coming - she just turned 6 last week and now has 6 'grown up teeth'.

my dd is just 5 and she's been a bit off the last few days and complaining of having sore teeth and a couple of hers are wobbly, i was wondering about taking her to the dentist too

pinkteddy · 16/03/2008 19:58

She hasn't lost it yet - complained of pain and I noticed it was wobbly - was as she is only 4.5! She has been very grumpy Orinoco - I put it down to tiredness, she has dark shadows under her eyes atm but you are probably right.

liahgen - she did get her baby teeth quite early - as I recall she got the first two at 5 months and had all of them before 2 years. Does the dentist need to see her as it is so early?

My DD was at prescool when she olst her first tooth, she was 5 on Friday and has now lost 5 and we have another wobbly one !! She had the front 8 teeth at 7 months though and the dentist said it was quite normal, its all relative to how early they had their milk teeth.
