From personal experience, please err on the side of caution when taking supplements. (Especially when taking higher doses) I started taking all kinds of vitamins put of desperation when I started to feel exhausted - GP wouldn't listen.
Roll on about 6 months later and I had a routine blood test which showed very high levels of Vitamin D (plus other vitamins) and I was ordered to stop taking them immediately. Still feeling overly tired unfortunately, but just wanted to warn others that VDT (Vitamin D Toxicity) is a thing.

Fair point here. Can i ask, what were your vit d levels that were considered too high? And does tis range from one person to the other, depending on certain factors?

I've just checked my results so I can provide accurate information.

The normal range for Vitamin D in a blood test result is 25 to 125 nmol/L (mine was at 148 nmol/L)

NB: Even my vitamin B 12 levels were high 🫣
Normal range for Vitamin B12 is 197 to 771 ng/L (mine was 772 ng/L!)

I honestly didn't realise that taking vitamins was that much of an issue, hence just flagging here.

Everything went back to normal two months later (after I stopped taking them)
Hope it helps 😊

The 'normal' range is generic and high vitamin d levels can* also be indicative of other potential health issues.
(In my case, I was just overdoing it, hence it went back to normal range when I stopped)

Holland and Barratt are probably disappointed. I spent a small fortune there! 😞

Just checked mine
B12 - 846 (the doctors never bother when it's high and mine has been unreadable before)
Vitamin D - 66 which is much better than my level of 9 in 2020!

Oh, your Vitamin B12 is even higher! They will factor in your other test result levels, so if they haven't said anything then it would be nothing to worry about. I don't want to cause alarm - just letting others know not to be as naive as me, There was hopeful me thinking I was doing good and waiting for the sudden life-changing burst of energy (which sadly never even came)

But I'm sure others are more sensible!

PS. If anyone does know of the magic formula (or supplement) to get energy levels back, please do share the secret! 🤍* *

Yikes, how much were you taking?

I've read you can take a max of 4000miu a day, I've started taking 2000

I was taking the Solgar 4000IU (someone at work recommended these to me, saying they couldn't function without them) but there was also vitamin D in other supplements I was taking
(in much smaller doses, but it all adds up!) It's always best to check the label....

I no longer rattle when I walk.

Taking vitamin d gave me constant reflux. I tried taking it 3 times for a few weeks and each time I developed near constant reflux lasting 7 weeks after stopping vitamin d. I think it was a withdrawal symptom caused by changes in gastric acid secretion as vitamin d affects calcium levels and calcium levels affect acid secretion.

I have had my levels checked after being off vit d and they were 87 in winter so I think I just didn't need it. I would caution against taking anything unless you know you are actually deficient in it.
