DD15 tingling pins and needles legs

DD15 has tingling pins and needles in her legs pretty much all the time, especially in the evening.

She says it feels like pressure all round her ankles.

Usually if she goes for a run, it’ll help so she runs 20 mins twice a day.

shes studying for her gcse mocks so spent most of the day sitting.

At dinner she said the pins and needles were even in her left arm.

She didn’t run this afternoon and said she is fed up of running and started crying.

Wesaw a neurologist who said probably RLS but no drugs can be given as she’s so young.

We tried one magnesium bath but she wasn’t convinced.

What do I do?

She said when she sits crossed legged at school in assembly she feels like her legs are like sand, so heavy and she can hardly stand up by the end. That it has got much worse recently.

She has already asthma, hayfever, had thyroid antibodies but that’s gone back to normal.

Can anyone help me.

She asked to see the GP but they’ll just fob me off? Won’t they?

I feel so lost, I can’t find any way to help her and the NHS doesn’t seem to care or have any solutions.

Ask for a B12 test? Sorry you’re dealing with this

I had this and it was a vitamin D deficiency, my GP took it seriously and did blood tests to verify this is what it was - definitely get booked in, I was convinced it was all sorts but this time of year it could be the same.

Yes check the b12, if very low in this it can cause widespread pins and needles.

Any numbness? My daughter has had various unexplained issues over the years (aches and sharp pains, fatigue, migraines) but it was when she felt tingling and numbness on one side and we went to A&E on advice of 111 - they sent her for an MRI and thought it was MS, then she had a lumber puncture that confirmed it. She was 17.

As above could be a deficiency. Deficiency could be caused by another condition such as coeliac or pernicious anaemia.

This is what I’m most worried about. I’m so sorry your DD had this diagnosis. I hope she is doing ok?

She doesn’t have aches or sharp pains, no migraines. She does occasionally feel dizzy.

She is though slightly on the ASD spectrum. It’s really minor but also has asthma and hayfever too. So a lot of autoimmune issues.

she had her blood sugar tested and HBAC1 came back at 33 which seemed quite high for a 15 year old? But I don’t know what is normal and test said normal.

Ferritin was 37 which again said “normal” but we started floradix.

her b12 was about 550 from memory. Is that low?

thank you everyone for all your help. At least I have some tests to ask for tomorrow.
