Hernia - always an op?

I’ve just had an ultrasound and they’ve diagnosed a hernia (in groin). Does this always mean an operation? I can only feel a lump, but no pain really, but I expect these things can get worse. It’s to the right of my c/s scar. Waiting for GP to call me in to discuss. If I haven’t heard by Monday I’ll call them, but report should be sent.
i seem to have so many health issues atm - maybe this is what getting older (50s) is about, but I feel too young to go out to pasture. My brain says ‘party’ and my body says ‘nooo!’

In general, we don't operate on hernias that are not causing symptoms. If the hernia starts causing pain then yes, an operation would be an option.

Thanks, that’s good to know. It’s not painful, just a lump!

my doc said the same, if it's not causing any issues then fine to leave it be

Hopefully that will be the case!
