Broken tooth temporary fix

So about two years ago, I had a root canal on a tooth that had previously had a deep filling in from childhood. I was eating crisps yesterday and basically half of the tooth has now broken around the filling. The filling seems to still be securely in place, but the tooth has cracked in half around it if that makes sense.

Half of the tooth has now become detached and wobbly.

I have an appointment on Friday with my dentist which was the earliest I could get. Until then, can I use some kind of dental glue or adhesive like the stuff used for dentures just to sort of stick it back into place so it at least doesn’t fall out until then?!

All the dental repair kits I can see are for repairing lost fillings and stuff, and that's not the issue. My (usually very sensible) dad suggested fucking superglue!!!!

hi, no idea, but would not think that anything over the counter would be a good idea ( and def not superglue!)
can you call dentist and explain that tooth has now actually broken and they might have an emergency appointment you could get? Hope you can get it sorted ok.

I explained the issue on the phone this morning and they said a broken tooth isn’t an emergency (111 said the same last night) which is fair enough really @butteriesplease but super annoying to have to wait until Friday! I can’t really eat properly - I can eat on the other side but have to be soooo careful.

You could try fixodent or similar. I had a loose crown and it kept me going until I could get a dental appointment.

Nothing you can buy is strong enough to stick it back and, no, it's not an emergency.

You'll have to wait for your appointment I'm afraid. I know how awful it looks and feels, but there's no alternative. It sounds like you will have to pay for a crown.
