PIP face to face meeting

Hi

My husband has been asked to attend a face to face PIP meeting the week before Christmas, not great timing and it’s not going to be easy getting him there but he wants to go rather than asking for a letter to say it’s too hard to attend. He’s a bit worried that the aim of it is to catch him out and that he’ll end not being eligible despite being very ill, hospitalised and off work since February… can anyone give me any pointers as to what to expect re questions etc?

Thanks

There is an excellent thread on this which I will post for you in a second. If it is too difficult for him to get to the assessment, ask for a home visit.

I was initially told to attend an assessment centre for my renewal assessment, which was ridiculous for all sorts of reasons (that I had clearly explained in my submission).

I rang the assessment company on the number provided (IAS) and it was surprisingly easy to change it to a telephone assessment at the same time on the same date. And as pp says, you can also ask for a home visit assessment.

Good luck Flowers

(My telephone assessment was long but went fine, btw.)

Hello
They are not trying to "catch you out" but trying to ensure your DH is still entitled to it. However, I can easily appreciate the worry as I and my DH worry about anything and everything

When I visit a doctor/hospital with my DH, we write down the questions we need to ask, Therefore, may I recommend that your husband writes down important PIP points of what he can't do, do as quickly, or do as often or at all because of his health (others may want to expand on this as I have no experience of PIPs)

As others have said, try to change it if you wish and you may be pleasantly surprised

CAB can advise on what terms to use for a PIP assessment too. During the assessment, focus on how he is on the worst possible days not the good ones. Basically be as negative as possible.

Yes this is really important. It is horrible that you have to do this, but it is what is needed.
