Zopiclone

Hello, does anybody know what is a normal dose for Zopiclone? Asking for a friend. She takes 3.75 mg per night, it works until around 3am and then she is awake for the rest of the night. Her mental health is trashed through lack of sleep. No other problems or health issues, just insomnia.

Thanks.

I've been on 10mg before, It works but it has side affects.. nausea/foggy/nightmares. It's also very addictive.
I now take 25mg of Phenerghan, antihistamine but also used for insomnia, you can buy over the counter but pharmacists can be funny about selling it so I get mine prescribed. Also Mirtazapine, good for anxiety and helps with sleep.

She should be able to ask for a short course of 7.5mg.

Zopliclone is horribly addictive and shouldn't be taken for a long time. Everytime I've taken it, it knocks me out until 3am and then I am awake in a weird buzzy place.
I instead did a lot of yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) lots of vids on YouTube, exercise in the day, no caffeine after 3pm, high protein low sugar diet. I'm bipolar and a life long insomniac so understand bad mental health pretty well. These really helped. I occasionally use Kalms Night as well.

Another thing is accepting I will be awake some nights and that is OK.

The correct dose is what her GP has prescribed. If it is not working she should go back.

Zopiclone can be a life saver but it can be very addictive and has serious long term side effects. Please don't encourage her to play around with dosage without help of a medical professional.

If you take 3,75mg every night then you will get tolerance to it and require an increased dose. This is why it's not recommended to have longer than 2 weeks at a time.
Yea she can ask to go up to 7.5mg which is also a normal dose but sooner or later that will stop working too and the GP will refuse to prescribe more because that is the max dose
CBT is the best treatment for insomnia
Non tolerance forming tablets include low dose mirtazapine, amitriptyline or trazodone or promethazine which you can buy OTC.
She would be best off to address the underlying cause. Early morning waking is a classic symptom of depression

I took these for 5 years, all of a sudden I could no longer get them (live in Spain), supply problem, I’ve had to go cold turkey. I’ve tried melatonin.

I have been on 7.5mg for about ten years with no issues. I know people talk about side effects and being addictive but I can go periods without them (Hospital stays and holidays) and am ok. I also have a six monthly check with pharmacist to talk about suitability.
