Google says 1 hour to 3 days. I’m 1 day in and no change so far.

Just remembered I also had amitriptyline too.
I have one allergy and that's to codeine...which is why they gave me naproxen.

I had it for back pain.

3 days ish to kick in as anti- inflammatory

word of warning: ALWAYS take with food

I took it whilst waiting for a hip replacement. I was on 500 with 20 of Esomeprazole. Worked well for me. Sadly I can’t remember if it was instant acting or not.

Husband was prescribed them for pain in his hip (whilst investigating if it was osteo or just a pulled ligament). They did absolutely nothing for him. GP switched him onto Amitryptilline (sp?) as a nerve blocker, those worked after a few days.

What was your husbands diagnosis in the end? I've also been taking naproxen for my hip but it's done nothing other than make me feel a bit sick.

He never did get a formal diagnosis because the bugger started to feel better! The hip pain started with the summer school holidays and it took until the end of the holidays before he agreed to see a GP. GP organised a scan which showed nothing untoward, referred him to a consultant, consultant found nothing untoward and recommended physio as the first option. By this time it was November and between the referral and the first physio appointment, he started to limp less and feel better, He's now completely fine. We presume it must have been ligament damage that healed but slowly over four months.

It reduces my pain somewhat, so that I can sleep better - inflammation/tendinitis in my shoulders. It doesn't take away the pain though, but sleeping better helps.

I wonder if a higher dose would help more with the pain. I only have 250mg tablets, but I can take 3x a day, but perhaps I should ask if I could have a higher dose as that doesn't sound like as much as some people have prescribed. I have a PPI as well to protect my stomach. I'm waiting for a cortisone injection and then hopefully won't need it much after that.

I’ve been prescribed 500mg 2x per day but I haven’t taken that high a dose yet as it made me feel a bit sick and tonight I have chest pain so I’m not sure if it’s indigestion from the tablets / referred pain from my back or something else.
