Anyone's child on atenolol for SVT? Any advice?

Our 3 yr old son has been diagnosed with SVT and has been having increasingly frequent episodes, recently one a week, then 3 in 2 days. The dr at hospital is advising us to consider giving him daily adenolol, (beta blocker) but we're a little concerned about any side-effects in young children- any tiredness or loss of capacity to exercise etc. Most of the time we can get theheart back to normal by holding him upside down etc! Have any of you had experience of your young child on adenolol and can advise? It's so confusing!

Hi, my dd has been on propranolol, another beta blocker, since she was 18 months old. She has had several episodes of VT, where her heart has been racing at up to 190 bpm at rest and needs the beta blockers to reduce the strain on her heart as she has a genetic condition that can cause aortic aneurism/dissection.

I found that initially, she was just a bit more tired than normal. They have to be on an increasing dose as they grow, and every time her dose is upped she is a bit tired for a few days whilst her body adjusts. Apart from that, she is doing great and the medication is doing it's job

Dd often gets a bout of the hiccups when her heart is racing, apparrently it's something to do with the vagus nerve that affects the heart rate!

Hi my son was diagnosed with Wolf Parkinson White and SVT after having a heart rate of 260, in May last year. He is on Propanolol and has been since, however they upped his dose and had to lower it back down quickly as he suffered really low blood pressure and was just really not himself, so lethargic. Now that he is nearly 5 and still getting episodes of SVT (all return to normal within 15 mins) they want to change his beta blocker to Atenol. This medicine he only has once a day whereas propanol he had 3 times a day. Would be really good to know if your 3 year old is taking Atenol and what if any side effect are they experiencing?
I didn't like my son on Propanolol (although the cardiologist says its the best medication for a child with his condition so we have to go along with it but its not nice to think your son has to have medicine like that at such a young age) he will be on the beta blocker to control his SVT until he is old enough to have an ablation on his heart. The side effects for him on Propanolol are not nice, he has cold hands and feet, tummy ache, tiredness, mood swings and vivid dreams/talking in the night and he has a very pale skin appearance. I'm hoping Atenol isn't as bad.
I would welcome any comments
Many thanks
