I went to the docs after the chemist was already shut tonight so I can't get her anti-b's till the morning
Is there anything I could/should be doing tonight to help her?

I was thinking of some medisad for the itchm, should I bathe her in a mild salt solution??
or anything else

Fell free to beat me for not realising sooner that something wasn't right with them

Hi hon. My ds has molluscum too - what do they look like when they are infected? Have you tried piriton for the itching? Do you have any aveeno in the house? Failing that a hanful of oats in the bath tied in a hanky running under the tap and then wash them with the whole pad when the bath is full.

anti-septic cream maybe? What does it look like when infected? My dd has them too and a few have gone red and angry but when I give them a squeeze after a bath I managed to get pus out and they have started to clear up now. I also spray them with colloidal silver but whether that has helped too I dont know.

My DS had Molloscum.
Did nothing as didnt bother him.
Disappeared within 6 mths.

My friend's DD (same age) had them at same time & she too did nothing.

Are they bothering her or dont you like the look of them?

jellycat · 13/03/2008 20:05

I used to put antiseptic cream on them when they looked angry and inflamed. It seemed to work. Also I used to put a plaster on to protect them.

Seona1973 · 13/03/2008 20:07

who is the question for mistressmiggins?

my dd has them on her face and in the crook of her arm and they look very unsightly - I am not so bothered about the ones on her tummy/back as they cant be seen. She has had them for longer than 6 months and she seems to get more and more rather than them starting to go. I decided to be pro-active against them as they can linger for up to 2 years (or longer) - whether the stuff makes a difference or not is another matter though!!

mistressmiggins · 13/03/2008 20:13

either of you.

My DS had them on his trunk & legs. I did look into it on MN at them time but didnt bother with any treatment as they didnt itch.

I think that dr said they would just disappear which fortunately they did.

Have you done a search on MN cos I think there is an old thread with some "potion" you can make to put on them.

HTH

mistress
molloscum is nothing to worry about and my dd's are under her arm and down her side but they have now become infected which needs treatment. she had them for about a year before now and they were fine but now they are HUGE ,bulging and very red about 4mm around each one
they are itching her loads and before they hardly ever did

they have sligtly green looking middles now, definitely somehting up with then which is why I took her to the docs

It is probably worth noting that the Molluscum spots go angry and red just before they are about to peak and disappear - they are not infected, although it can really look like they are (swollen, pussy, hot, itchy).
This happened to my son, and the (newly qualified) GP I went to prescribed antibiotic cream, but then a family friend who is a skin specialist rubbished this and told me the above. True enough, each spot did get very red and swollen looking just before it went away. DS had the spots for almost a year, then everything cleared up within about 3 weeks - which was a relief. You just have to wait for you child to build up an immunity to the virus.
Hope this helps.

Dd has had molloscum for over 18 months now - mainly on backs of legs, arms and torso. They flare up from time to time, and sometimes they burst releasing the pus. Nothing I have tried or been prescribed has helped, so I guess it's just a case of sitting it out. Hopefully they won't be around for too much longer!
