What did you eat to manage your gallstones?

Recently been diagnosed with gallstones after having quite a few attacks. I'm narrowing down my safe foods and have eliminated eggs, all dairy, spicy foods and trying to keep fat down to the absolute minimum until I can get a date for removal. Having looked on here for advice, I've now ordered digestive enzymes, peppermint oil capsules and apple cider vinegar. But I'm interested in knowing what people ate to keep their symptoms at bay?

When my first started out I eliminated fat completely or went low fat. I was having attacks ,3-4 times a week. Then on holiday I just thought sod it and ate what I want. That was last September and because I got away with it once I just kept eating what I want and I haven't had a bad attack since 😂 I still get the odd twinge and sometimes a tenderness but nothing like the bilary colic pain I used to get. I've not had mine out seeing as it's behaving itself and it's a watch and wait approach. I went through a phase of about 3 months of having really bad attacks to no attacks. I'm pretty sure I've still got them but maybe they have moved or passed through im unsure. I do know that a low fat diet is recommended. Also, buscopan works wonders. They actually give you that at hospital if you go in with bad bilary colic and it works!

Not a lot. I lost a lot of weight

breakfast was either porridge or weetabix with skimmed milk

lunch was a jacket potato with beans and salad

dinner was chicken or low fat veggie sausages with potato / pasta / rice and veg. I gave up red meat and all junk food except sweets which was to keep my weight on if I’m honest. I ended up underweight and was breastfeeding.

I found keeping the above as you said, low fat, no spicy foods etc. But also I found switching to olive oil to cook with, red wine and regularly eating nuts has helped

I didn’t eat anything that had more than 5% fat. I used teriyaki sauce instead of butter on jacket potatoes for example and I had a marshmallow if I fancied something sweet

Peppers, red or green, were a trigger for me, I had to avoid them, and could not eat a salad that they had been picked out of.

DH is eating a lot of Itsu food - noodles and adding their dumplings, book chit ans sliced chicken into the noodles. Baked beans, jelly and low fat yogurt.

There was no particular trigger for me which was a bit of a nightmare. My worst attack was after a very bland vegan cottage pie (but could eat curries happily!)

I had my op earlier in the year and can now eat most things, just have to be prepared that after a rich day/meal (esp fried foods) I might feel abit off the next day
