I think I have chilblains….they itch and are sore and only turn up in the cold.

any thoughts on what I can do? And do they look like chilblains?

The picture doesn’t do justice as to how red they are…

Just found out I have these on my feet, I am in pure agony. I saw a podiatrist so here is the advice - keep them warm, but do not overheat them from cold - hot too quickly. Layer your hands with gloves and put deep heat on them before you go out, this draws blood flow to your hands. Soak them in witch Hazel. When you get home take one layer of gloves off slowly - in intervals not too fast. Don’t put you hands quickly into very hot water. I am trying to heal my feet as I can hardly walk 😫

I advise patients to avoid extremes of hot or cold. Gentle warming and layers is the key. Go to amazon and buy yourself a stick of Snowfire £3.99 ish. It is a great embrocation stick for chilblains. Works wonders.

Yes I think so. I get them on my feet although mine look different to that. They also don’t heal on their own, I have to use a steroid to help with the itching and pain as spring comes as they’re still there even in may most years.

Did you manage to sort them out op?

I had them as a child (and looks like they're coming back post menopause) - there used to be a cream from boots I'd wack on but that was the 80s/90s

Not as yet- have ordered some fingerless gloves for indoors though! Will ask the pharmacy what they would recommend. X

I developed this and my fingers really flared up each Winter. Very sore, inflamed, and fiercely itchy, with the skin seeming to be thin and fragile, and where the inflammation was around the joints that felt like I'd imagine how arthritis would feel. I got all kinds of rubbish from my GP, anti-fungal steroidal creams for non-existent infections etc, until he got sick of me and referred me to a specialist. To my lack of surprise he diagnosed the problem as Raynaud's.

The problem was the bane of my Winters, there'd be a day when my fingers would get overchilled and the inflammation would be with me till Summer would arrive, which then would see it off. I learned to make sure to minimise how cold my fingers would get and fingers crossed (for once doing this without pain), I've been free of it for the past few Winters. I found that I cannot take too much care with avoiding overchilled fingers.

Someone suggested on here that Hirudoid works. I asked at the pharmacy but it's prescription only and I cba to order from online pharmacy!
