Lots of blood in the pan

Last few days there has been so much blood in the pan. Mostly when I pass a stool, but also when I have used the toilet for just a wee.

I have a memory of it happening before but not so much. Google tells me it’s piles. How much blood is too much blood and I assume this is doing me no good iron wise?

Go to A&E, I had this it was dark red and gushing out of me. Quite some time ago. I think it was a ruptured polyp or something anyway nothing serious but you should go and get checked out, I wouldn’t wait for a GP appointment.

I’m honestly not at all worried. I don’t fit any of the other criteria for it to be something more sinister. I’ll see if it settles and go from there.

Why did you post?

Jellycats4life · 02/12/2023 18:05

So you’re passing lots of blood on the toilet, daily, sometimes when you have a bowel movement but also when you’ve just had a wee.

How can that be piles?

Don’t be an idiot and stick your head in the sand. See a doctor. My mum had bowel cancer and had ONE episode of bleeding.

I posted to see if anyone else had similar. I’ve had it before and it just went away. I have no pain and have none of the other symptoms of cancer I’m certainly not going to go to A&E. If it continues I will approach my GP.

It's up to you whether you get checked or not. You say it's happened before and now it's happening again. Surely that's your cue to get yourself checked out. Your call I guess.

The last time I went to the doctor about blood when wiping they didn’t even want to examine. Just said it was piles and not a problem.

I would be changing my gp if they didn't want to examine me for mystery bleeding.

Goatymum · 02/12/2023 19:17

Of course you need to see a GP w rectal bleeding.

'Blood when wiping'?

You said there was 'so much blood in the pan', which is why people are suggesting you seek medical attention. It's not the same as blood when wiping.

RudsyFarmer · 02/12/2023 19:42

Around 18 months or or so ago I had blood when wiping and mumsnet told me to go to the GP. I went to the GP and they didn’t even want to examine me. Said it was piles and sent be on my way.

The 1st blood down the pan incident was a while ago, but I honestly can’t remember how long. This time it has gone on for longer and probably looks worse than it is as the blood mixing with the water is quite visually shocking. I’ve definitely seen drips of blood down the pan today.

So why won't you see a GP?

Blood when wiping isn't the same as blood in the pan

ChoupetteTheCat · 02/12/2023 19:47

In your first post you mentioned that you were worried about your iron levels, you wouldn't be considering this unless there was a worrying amount of blood. Please just go back to your gp.

ChoupetteTheCat · 02/12/2023 19:51

Can I ask what are you are?

They usually say if anything changes come back. Go back OP.

I've already posted. I had similar. It was something. And now I will be checked every 5 years. Get yourself to the GP FGS.

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 02/12/2023 21:42

I had 2 large bleeds, no other symptoms. Rectal cancer. Go to your GP.
