Are people still mentioning Covid? Who’s still testing?!

Not me! My partner would laugh if I mentioned it 🙃

I had this. It wasn't linked to anything else. I went to see my GP and he diagnosed that ear wax was causing a blockage. I used olive oil drops for a week and went back to my GP for microsuction. Our surgery only does it one day a fortnight, but I was happy to wait for it.

I've had this on and off for about 6 months now. Really annoying.

Apparently a collapsed ear canal. Beconaise used 3 x a day should help after a few days.

Doctor said grommets can be used if it gets really bad.

Ex practice nurse. Not likely to be ear wax build up. It's very typical presentation of eustachian tube dysfunction. Often happens along with cold symptoms and sinus infections. Will resolve itself spontaneously. In essence it's just an air bubble in the tube between his nose and ear. Pinching nose and trying to "pop" his ears can help shift it quicker but will need to keep trying - not a quick fix. But will resolve itself within about 2 weeks of cold symptoms going.

I had this last year. It started with one ear, then both. It wasn’t ear wax, it was an infection, although I wasn’t aware of having had a cold. The doctor told me it would clear up on its own, but that it might take several weeks. He was correct.

It was more like six weeks than two and I went almost completely deaf for a week or so.

I had this a year ago. I just woke up unable to hear out of one ear. And then the other ear started to go. I saw a cow of a nurse who yanked my ear around and told me it was "full of wax" and to get drops, which I did. It got worse so a few days later I got a GP appointment. The GP said there was no wax at all but my ear drum was bulging due to fluid trapped behind it. She said to take decongestants to help it drain, which it did, slowly.

Eustachian tube dysfunction is what the GP said. A bit odd as I had not had any sort of cold symptoms beforehand. I've heard of a few people having the ear symptoms without anything else first.

I have this right now and have tested positive for covid. I have similar nose spray and the effervescents to reduce mucous. I saw a gp as it's been like this for 4 days now. It's an awful feeling. Still no taste or smell either, so I am literally senseless. 🙈

I had a horrible viral thing late October that I am convinced was COVID. Tests came back negative, but later discovered they were several months out of date. Since then I have had impaired taste and some sinus/ear discomfort, largely on the right hand side. Got given antibiotics and a Dymista nasal spray, this seemed to slightly improve things. Also had my ears checked at Specsavers and they couldn’t see any problematic wax. Here I am though still with impaired taste, slight ear discomfort and a growing sense of frustration. Any suggestions?

My dad went deaf in his left ear and had either an mri or ct head done privately to check for tumours which fortunately weren't present, he'd literally just gone permanently deaf overnight in that ear due to age; scary. He only has partial hearing in his right ear anyway and has a history of ear infections leading to mastoid operations.
