Quinsy

Worried mum here
DD (28) away travelling in Australia has just been admitted to hospital there (Sydney) with suspected quinsy. She went to a clinic with what she thought was tonsillitis and they sent her off to hospital with a referral letter.
All seems to be progressing well as in she was seen very quickly, they've taken bloods, put in a cannula and are talking about starting the IV in maybe a couple of hours so that's sounds a lot better than it would be if it had happened here. But how worried should I be? There is of course a big part of me that wants to make a few calls to arrange cover here and then get on the first flight I can to be with her. Always will be my little girl of course. She's only been there 2 weeks, has made some friends but still looking for work and a permanent place to live whilst staying in hostels in the meantime. Thankfully she does have medical insurance so we don't have to worry about that part at least.

My dd went through this is the summer but it turned out to be glandular fever and the throat abscess thing they thought was quinsy was a secondary infection! She’d had the drip and everything by the time the bloods came back! This was all on nhs within a matter of hours.
If it is quinsy they’ll drain the abscess thing and she should be ok afterwards. That’s why they have to go to a&e quickly.
