Any GPs or Pharmacists around? QQ about meds

My GP surgery are pretty disorganised and chaotic and have form for not checking what meds you are on before firing off prescriptions. After being offered migraine tablets that I absolutely shouldn't have with really high blood pressure, I've started googling myself if i get something new.

Today I went in with a nasty skin/staph infection. My nose is shiny and red and there is a crusty sore thing (sorry for tmi). GP took one look at offered me antibiotics which I agree I need.

But just checked and not sure if it's ok to take them now.

I am on:

Amlodipine
Ramipril
Daily Asprin
Bisoprolol
Lansoprazole
Atorvastatin

The antibiotic they have given me is Flucloxacillin

There are suggestions online that this taken with the amlodipine and or the statin could cause dangerously low blood pressure. I don't know what to do now. I deffo need the antibiotics but wondering if I should stop taking any of my regular prescription in the short term?

Sorry for being needy. I should have asked the GP of course, but she squeezed me in at 6pm and couldn't get me out quick enough.

Nurse here not GP or pharmacist. We tend to use the BNF to check interactions and nothing you are on would be of concern. The pharmacist dispensing the antibiotics would have checked against your other meds. Flucloxacillin would usually be 1st line for a skin infection so would be the best option.

I did see one study about calcium channel blockers (amlodipine) causing hypotension with antibiotics but it seems erythromycin is more risky plus even if it did drop your blood pressure its unlikely to drop it to any harmful effect exect maybe you could be a little dizzier.

Flucloxacillin | Interactions | BNF content published by NICE

See the list of drugs that interact with Flucloxacillin. Includes information on severity of interaction and the level of evidence for it.

Pharmacist here. I agree with nurse post above, that you don’t need to be concerned about any interactions with your current therapy and flucloxacillin.

Thank you both so much. I'm not particularly anxious but I was previously given naratriptan to treat migraine, whilst I had very high blood pressure that was not remotely under control, and it made things so much worse. I've also never really had my heart medication explained to me so just take it a bit blindly.... Really appreciate the two professional responses.
