My child has a lovely shiner and the edge of his eye ball is all bloody. Is this anything to worry about?

We’re putting an ice pack on as much as possible.

I'd get some medical advice. Eyes are too precious to leave to chance. May be just bruising but worth getting someone to have a look at it.

I would phone 111 or take to local minor injuries unit or A&E if no minor injuries unit on your area. I wouldn't risk it with eyes

I was surprised how seriously it was taken when I phoned the out of hours GP with an eye issue, I was seen very quickly. I think it would be good to check it out.

Hellocatshome · 26/11/2023 19:35

Phone 111 and ask for advice. We have a specialist eye infirmary with an A&E department but I'm not sure everywhere has then. 111 will be able to tell you what to do.

MadeOfAllWork · 26/11/2023 19:37

I’ve had that before. It was from something stupid like blowing my nose. But given that there has also been an associated eye injury then I’d call 111

FayCarew · 26/11/2023 19:37

Take her to Eye A+E, probably not open over the weekend

SeaToSki · 26/11/2023 19:38

It needs to be looked at

KEG05 · 26/11/2023 19:38

I agree with previous posters I think given he has an eye injury it’s worth getting his eye checked. Just in case

Tilllly · 26/11/2023 19:52

Go to the ED
There's an ophthalmologist on call I believe, but you can't risk anything with sight

Thanks everyone. We ended up at eye casualty after visiting minor injuries. Eye is fine but he was given some antibiotics to avoid any infection.
