Slight worry that friend's DD is being abused

A couple of things have happened recently that have made me slightly concerend about my friend's DD, who is 5. She (the 5 yr old) told me something that I found quite odd, and also she has been ill with constant urinary infections. Do you think I'm right to be (slightly) concerned? She is sometimes left alone with a male relative (not her dad). Are there any other classic signs? I don't want to speak to her mum about this unnecessarily, as it could all be nothing, but on the other hand I'd hate to think that anything was happening to her. Any advice would be most appreciated - I'm a regular poster by the way but have changed name in case anyone might realise who I'm talking about. thanks.

Yes I think you're right to be concerned.
I cannot see a reason why she has seen his erect penis and it be innocent - very differnt to a dad jumping out of bed first thing in the morning.
Please follow it up - with the mum at least. Protect the poor girl. It may be nothing but it's not worth the risk
good luck

We are open with our children about sex and they see us naked all the time. I remember both boys going through a stage where they were fascinated by DH's willy and really wanted to touch it. Obviously nothing sexual about it, but I can only imagine it could have been interpreted the wrong way if one them told someone that he really enjoyed touching his father's willy..........

apart from the fact that he's not their father...i think that makes it a bit more worrying.
let's hope that is innocent

THere are ways in which a child could have seen an erect penis without that child having been in any way abused. If this unnamed not-the-father-male relative lives in the house or regularly visits with a partner, the child could have walked in on relative and partner having some kind of sexual contact (just as a fairly high number of kids walk in on their parents at least once).
