Tooth removed yday- food stuck in hole

The removal seemed to go ok even though tooth was shattered into various pieces. Dentist said got it all.
Had spag Bol and some soft pitta bread last night. Ate slowly on other side but some still got caught in the blood clot.
This morning had well soaked cornflakes <vile> and again even though eating on other side food has got caught.
I started the salt water rinse this morning but because im doing it gently it hasn't dislodged the food.
Does this matter. Will it eventually just fall out with the clot once the healing is complete.
I don't want to do anything that could affect the clot and risk dry socket but is there anything else I should do.
(The leaflet from dentist doesn't say anything about this and it's so long since I had a tooth out I can't remember.)

I'd ring the dentist for advice. I had soup only for a few days after an extraction because I was worried about disturbing the clot. Salt water swishes may remove it but you're at a precarious stage with it so I'd ask the dentist.

Thank you will try and get through to dentist to get some advice

Don't do anything that may risk disturbing the blood clot. You don't want dry socket, trust me x

kizziee · 23/11/2023 11:18

Thanks @3orstickto2 I'm being really careful. It just feels very odd having food actually in it but maybe that's quite normal

Give them a ring

Nitgel · 23/11/2023 11:24

it will just fall out on it's own.

MeinKraft · 23/11/2023 12:20

When I had this I gently dripped water from a calpol syringe on the area to flush it out. Gently though!

purplecorkheart · 23/11/2023 12:22

I would ring the dentist for advice tbh. I was advised to eat soft smooth food for a day or two post extraction. You do need to avoid dislodging the clot.

whatadaythatwas · 23/11/2023 12:27

It might not be food, it might be granulated tissue looks whitish and grainy, I had this after an extraction before

kizziee · 23/11/2023 12:55

@MeinKraft I'm not sure I'm delicate enough - I'm like an elephant Blush

@whatadaythatwas I think it is food rather than healing tissue. Doesn't look the right colour for that

Do you have one of those large syringes or a water flosser? You can use that to gently dislodge food particles. When I had mine removed they give me a syringe to take home with me.

kizziee · 23/11/2023 14:17

Oh no they didn't give me on of those @Melodyy but I can ask about that

Tweezers? Very carefully!

Fightingtalk · 23/11/2023 22:01

I got some soft boiled egg stuck (in the hole left after my wisdom tooth was removed) which became infected and very painful, so get it out if you can!

kizziee · 23/11/2023 22:29

@Fightingtalk did you know the food was stuck there before it got infected ?

kizziee · 23/11/2023 22:29

@LeakyPipes I don't think I can trust myself to be that careful Confused
