Cannabis oil for pain relief

DH has debilitating arthritis in his shoulders, hips, hands and feet. He can't take any more anti-inflammatories because his kidney/liver function is compromised. Codeine makes him terribly constipated. GP (locum - doesn't know him) says he won't prescribe cannabis oil, used by a lot of the oldies on our area, but that another clinic will do so, at an enormous cost. Basically, he implies that arthritis is the reward for living beyond 70. Anyone found it useful for severe arthritis? Is it worth biting the bullet and trying it? Cheers.

I was going to be on a private cannabis prescription pre pregnancy. I have arthritis (in spine), degenerative disc disease, elhers, FND, OCD. Saw a specialist nhs physio they they don't like it mentioned. Yet admit pain killers have massive health disadvantages long term. It's a disgrace.

The way cannabis relaxes the body it is so good like from the inside of your bones. Pre pregnancy I was not coping with fatigue and would find cannabis would help me power nap and motivate me to eat. I was a social user for years, my health got worse and my habit changed to medical. To say that about being older is so bad. Only alternative to painkillers I have is nerve blocker injections and that I have to go private for.

Can't comment on its use in cases of severe arthritis but I find cannabis hugely effective when I'm suffering from severe lower back pain. Thankfully it's legal here in Canada.

I'm pretty sure that controlled clinical studies have disproved analgesic effects of cannabis, but in my case the pain is due to 1x bulging and 1x herniated disc, and the problem is heightened by muscle spasms. It definitely helps with those.

It also makes you kind of less bothered by pain sensations. I'd liken it to "gas and air" effect during labour.

Definitely start your DH on a very low dose, if you do try it, and work up gradually. You can feel unsteady on your feet to begin with. The last thing someone with arthritis wants is a nasty fall.

@CobraChicken I'm half Canadian I could go pick up a month's supply on prescription and bring it back to the UK. Be very expensive and a long journey lol. Medical and social weed could make the UK government so much money but they are stupid and stubborn. They just cut from the disabled.

I use to use CBD oil ( you need at least 6%) CBD brothers are very good ( Google). But l bought a dry herb vape from Amazon and use real cannabis.. you can't smell it in this.
Obviously you need to know someone who can get you it.
Blind eyes are turned for a little bit for medical use .
I am in chronic pain due to broken hips/ pelvis and most of my body.
It's so calming.. relaxes my bones and muscles.. l have never been " high".
Feel free to message me
