Open bite correction

Hi,

just wondering if anyone can offer any advice/share personal experience. I have an appointment at the dental hospital in a few weeks to see an orthodontist. My dentist has referred me to discuss fixing my open bite. When I received the letter about the appointment they said they will see me but I’m probably not a candidate for treatment.

I’ve attached a photo, could anyone with personal experience advise whether I would be a candidate or not.

An open bite can make you a candidate for NHS orthodontic treatment if you and your dentist feel the effect on the aesthetics of your smile are severe enough to warrant it, or if it causes any other clinical issues. (Hard to know without having done a clinical examination, taken a dental history, etc). It depends on the severity and NHS waiting lists may often be very long. The orthodontist will take precise measurements and records and be able to tell you whether you are suitable for NHS treatment. Privately you would have more say but NHS provision is strictly restricted, especially in adults.
