My dad was diagnosed at the start of the year, and is currently having chemo, and doing ok.
However I have been reading in the newspaper over the last few days about some new radical treatment. (not fully sure but a vaccine called GV1001, which works by teaching immune cells to recognise certain proteins made by pancreatic cancer cells. The immune cells can then find the pancreatic cancer cells and kill them.)
Sounds wonderfully simple - ha bloody ha !
Just wondered if anyone out there had any idea's .
Many thanks

Hi bottersnike
Sorry to hear about your dad's hands and feet, it seems while the chemo is doing some good, it can cause problems elsewhere. Like you say though its all we have.
Does your dad have his chemo weekly ?
My dad has his on a Thursday, feels crap until about Monday.
My dad say's he is'nt in any pain now with his morphine, but it zonks him out, so the mac nurse is going to reduce it today to 50mg.
How's your dad doing on the morphine? Sorry to ask so many questions, but do you have a macmillian nurse, only asking becuase dad's is lovely, and the support she gives is really fantastic.
Wishing you a lovely weekend, all the best, and thanks for replying again xx

Hi yorkiemom,
At the moment my dad has his chemo injections every two weeks, and takes a chemo tablet every day at home. He usually doesn't feel too bad until after about a week, and it starts to take its toll on his energy, so he has 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
He's OK on the morphine, not sure how much he's on, but it's enough!
Yes, Macmillan have been fantastic. His nurse ( male, really good ) is wonderfully empathetic, and brilliant for all sorts of situations ( like when my dad got a letter from the Benefits Office asking him to go into Stockport, 12 miles away, so they could check he was really disabled...!! )
Please ask any questions you need to; I really think it helps if you understand your dad's treatment as much as you can.
Hope you have a lovely Easter, take care
xxx
