Whats a 'normal' period like?

I know it sounds daft... but since 18 I've gone from pill to pregnancy to breast feeding to pregnancy to pill to pregnancy my periods have just returned and I've baan sterilised and I'm shocked by how heavy they are.. I'm using a super plus tampon and a pad and changing both every 3 hours soaked! I wake in the morning and pass lots of clots is this the normal after 3 children?
I'm thinking of restarting the pill just to make them lighter but not sure the GP will give it to me now?

How lomg have they been ging for? It could take 6 mths or so to settle down.

That does sound heavy. If you could be anaemic that can cause it and of course it's then a vicious circle, you bleed and get more anaemic etc.

Go to the docs and ask about transxemic acid - it reduces blood flow and can sort it out. Normally the first few periods after pregnancy/bfing can be manic though so it may just be temporary while things settle down.

Thanks they've been going about 3 months now! its just making me feel so rubbish, I can't go anywhere or risk humiliating myself! I'm cranky and have headaches all week.. Is it too soon to bother the gp then?

Oh, no, go see your gp. Even if you periods do setle, perhaps there's somehting you can do meantime to make it more comfortablefor yourself.

Sounds much to heavy to me. I'd go to the GP as well

See your GP. You need checking for anaemia. Restarting the pill is just one option available.
