Im having cold flushes, hot flushes periods of hours when I have shivers I am so cold and periods when I roast and am throwing my clothes off (poor DH!!) I have patches on my skin that feel cold (or hot) to touch when the rest of my skin is fine - it''s often my hands and feet but can be my neck, lower back or tummy

This has been building up for some months and now I never feel comfy

I am on HRT & Testosterone and pushing for thyroid to be properly checked

Any hints/tips for regulating my body temp or suggestions on how to fix it

Have they checked your blood sugar?

KatyMac · 19/11/2023 15:14

Last tine was Sept 22

It was ok, I think

Plasma glucose level 5.1 mmol/L [3.0 - 6.0]; Reference interval is based on a fasting specimen

but I certainly didn't fast.... or at least i dont think i did - let me check

Low blood iron? Have you done a full blood count?

Medlady · 19/11/2023 15:21

Thyroid?

KatyMac · 19/11/2023 15:21

Always had low blood pressure and I was always baseline cold (cardi & socks at the beach - winter coat by end of sept)

This is different/chnaged/new

Iron, maybe I'm often a bit aneamic so I take iron/floradix 3 times a week and methyl folate too

So aneamia, blood pressure and blood sugar for avenues of investigation

Have you ever had your hba1c levels done? I only ask as my blood sugar (fasting and random) has always been fine but when I had the hba1c done twice it showed that I was prediabetic. Once I started watching my carbs my hot and cold flushes and numb spots on my legs decreased massively. Might be worth asking if you've not had it done before.

Is that this

Haemoglobin A1c level 5.4 % [4.0 - 6.3]; An HbA1c of 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) is recommended as thecut point for diagnosing diabetes. A value of less than48 mmol/mol (6.5%) does not exclude diabetes diagnosedusing glucose tests.Haemoglobin A1c level - IFCC standardised 35 mmol/mol

I'm not a HCP but it sounds like you're in the normal range for that one based on what that says.

Do you smoke?

Are you underweight?

Do you exercise?

Not judging, just ruling things out

Sounds like it. Not that then! Hope you get to the bottom of it. Anything you eat or drink make it worse?

KatyMac · 19/11/2023 17:00

Don't drink or smoke
I'm over weight (bmi 26.5 all of it round my middle/belly)

I havent noticed it being food and drink related but I gave up Pepsi in the spring when they put artificial sweetners in as they affect me badly

I don't exercise a lot; I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia but I'm out on my e bike 4 or 5 times a week
