Any GPs out there? Or anyone that's suffered a tacycardia?

'Cos I think, a month on, I'm going to have another. Haven't taken my heart rate yet, but can feel it in my chest.

My question is, will it go away if I lay down, or do I need to see GP again with a subsequent hospital visit? Feel fine apart from that.

Not a gp but a nurse and you need to go lie down in a quiet room and concentrate on keeping your breathing slow and calm.

Once the feeling has passed get a gp appt, as they will need to have a record of how many episodes you have had.

This tachycardia can be perfectly normal and can pass with time, but best to let a medical professional know whats going on.

I've had a couple.

Get a paper bag and blow REALLY hard into it (make sure you are sitting down first, as it might make you go weak).

Hi, GP here.

Lots of people get episodes of harmless tachycardias, especially when stressed, tired or after drinking alcohol.

However, if you are getting a lot of them or if they are associated with palpitations, chest pain or fainting then they should be checked out. Have you had an ECG, blood tests or a 24 hour tape done in the past?
