Resting heart rate

Chewings · 17/11/2023 08:37

Been monitoring my RHR and my overall average is 44.

During the night it drops to 30-32.

Should I see my GP or am I just fairly fit?

Sudden decelerations/drops in heart rate are more concerning (bradycardia) than a generally low heart rate.

From the NHS website frequently asked questions "What's a normal heart rate":

The fitter you are, the lower your resting heart rate is likely to be. For example, athletes may have a resting heart rate of 40 to 60bpm, or lower.

See a GP to get checked if you think your heart rate is continuously above 120bpm or below 60bpm, although it may simply be that this is normal for you.

Are you fairly fit? If you think you are then this is a normal heart rate.

AuntieStella · 17/11/2023 08:50

Does it rise appropriately with exercise, then return to typical in a reasonable time?

I do think you're on the low side. Even when I was really fit, my evening on the sofa/overnight resting heart rate was usually in the high forties, only occasionally lower.

Where are the measurements coming from? How old are you? Do you have any symptoms like dizzyness? How’s your blood pressure?

My Garmin fitness watch! I'm 40.

Dizzy if i stand up too quickly. And I can't go on rollercoaster rides, they make me grey out and nearly faint.

When I run my rate is 135-145, it deceases rapidly.

I do weights 3x times a week for 30 mins, and I run 4x a week, 25km a week total.

So I exercise but I'm def not an athlete!

Any concerns about your heart are almost certainly better addressed by a GP than random strangers on Mumsnet.

Mine used to be qbout the same
As yours OP when I was very fit. It sounds very healthy. I saw a cardiologist at the time due to dizzy spells. It turned out to be nothing to do with my heart. The cardiologist was happy with my RHR.
