My DF (78) got sepsis a couple of weeks ago which was treated in hospital and was admitted for over a week but home now.
We think he got the infection after an op he was having to remove polyps from his bladder.
He has T2 diabetes as well which he's bene managing with tabs for +15 years but has never really been given much guidance re diet other than try and lose a bit of weight (just checked his BMI it's 27 - there's a fair amount on his tummy though)
He's been wiped out by it and has not much appetite now.
Food in hospital was dreadful but trying to get more nutrients into him now.
I wondered about the spatone iron supplements I took when preg
Grateful for any advice?

Men don’t need iron as they generally eat more than women and don’t menstruate.

Nhs dieticians are for patients who are tube fed as it is incredibly hard to maintain a human on those enteral diets so I wouldn’t expect diabetic diet advice off them. It’s not what they do in the nhs.

His surgery might have a service helping people to eat more healthily under the social prescribing section on their website.

Diabetes UK is a charity with excellent advice on nutrition and a forum. He’s going to have a long recovery from sepsis it will take months not weeks and having a bit of extra weight on his stomach probably didn’t do him any harm when he wasn’t able to eat in the hospital.

You don’t get any diet advice off GP’s for diabetes ime, they expect you to do your own research and really a lot of people know where they could improve when you speak to them but they really like golden syrup on their porridge.

It is just healthy eating and unprocessed food if your diabetic.
