Shoulder area pain

DH woke up a few days ago complaining of a stiff shoulder. It gradually got worse. The most painful movement is putting his arm in the breast stroke swimming position but really with most movement & painful to press below shoulder & dull ache at rest. If anyone has any experience of this I'd be really grateful for any advice. He isn't one to complain but even putting his jacket on he's shouting Ouch! 🤷‍♀️

Sounds like a frozen shoulder to me, I've had mine about 3 years now -during the freezing stage it was honestly the most painful thing ever (worse than childbirth) especially bad if i jolted it or went to grab at something suddenly. Mine came on for no reason at all, no injury to it or anything.

My sister said she has had similar for about 9 months. She went to one particular physio and got exercises & It healed within 2 weeks, was using freeze sprays etc, took the edge of it 🤷‍♀️

Your sister didn't have a frozen shoulder if she was fixed within 2 weeks. Frozen shoulder is a debilitating chronic condition.

Sorry OP, gp time!

I had this for 3 years pain meds and physio exercices didn't sort it. Osteopath and acupuncture did

A friend called and said sounds like a rotator tear, whatever that is, will need to look it up. We'll see what physio says. He doesnt want to start oral painkillers, sticking to bio freeze until he sees physio

Meant to add he had a nasty fall during a football match but didn't land on his arm but did jar it trying to save himself so could be that. It was next day the stiffness started. My thoughts are not frozen shoulder now but thanks for replies 🤷‍♀️
