Sinus

My mother experiences headaches a lot. I don't know what the pattern of headaches are.
She was fairly ignorant and defiant and combative for a long time and complains and argues easily when you try and help her and suggest for her to go to the doctor.

She eventually went to the doctor in the summer time with a two month long headache to be diagnosed with sinus and she got meds for it.

Then this week she got stressed and she has another headache and she's saying it's sinus but she's doesn't want to go to the doctor. She said that she talked to the pharmacist in boots and the pharmacist was reculant to give anything or advise anything because she has high blood pressure and high blood pressure medication. I suspect maybe my mother wanted something like a supplement to treat it naturally. My mother was never a hippy type of person ever before in my youth preferring natural methods of healthcare over traditional medication so for her to come and be like this I will never know. It's not the first time she's been like this. I suggested for my mother to go to make an appointment with her GP and my mother has refused saying the pharmacist told her there's nothing she can do but just let it pass.

Is this true that there's nothing available for sinus. I though maybe steroids would help from the GP.

When you say diagnosed with 'sinus' do you mean sinus headaches or sinus infection?

'Sinus' isn't a diagnosis

There are lots of things that can help sinus pain, I would start with some basic Sudafed tablets which relieve pain and congestion.

She could try a neti pot. You must use boiled/sterile water and the salt sachets that come with it, then use it at body temp. NEVER use plain, un-boiled tap water! It helps wash the snot out. Sounds revolting, but can be very refreshing and help with congestion.

What was her actual diagnosis? Was it a sinus infection? Did she get antibiotics, pseudoephedrine or something else? FIL had sinus pain for months. They finally put a camera up there and the swab came back as a fungal infection, which obviously needs different treatment to a bacterial infection. 😝

I don't know what she was diagnosed with to be honest but she's always having headaches and she's always neglecting the doctor. She had a headache for months earlier this year and it was steroids and antib's that eventually brought it to an end. I am astonished how she doesn't want to go to a doctor to help herself and she will only go to a pharmacist and who has literally just washed their hands of helping her and telling her to take paracetamol and let it pass.

A pharmacist is fine for sinus pain.

I buy my sinus meds in Tesco.

I have had antibiotics for a sever infection which has led to dizziness before but aside from that it's very much treat it yourself.

A GP would only be considered with repeated infections or pain not responding to OTC meds.
