Extremely itchy vag!! Help!!!

Colalola · 11/11/2023 07:02

So for a bout a week and a half I've had extreme comfort down there. No smell, no discharge just so itchy on the old vulva/vagina entrance. I don't really wanna waste doctor time so if there's anyone that's had this and will be able to recommend something I'd be so grateful. I've got vagasil in the purple tube which says ir helps with itching. It did help but it now not really helping. I'm 25, not menopausal. Thank you xx

Try Canasten cream, could be thrush. May need a pessary too. Usually there's white cheesy discharge but not always much.

Ilovegoldies · 11/11/2023 07:06

The last time I had thrush I didn't have any signs other than the itch. I am pretty certain it was thrush as it went after a tablet.

Yes I did wonder about this. However it's just extremely dry there is no discharge and it's not burning it's just the itch! Couldn't even do the deed the other day because of how dry it was which made it hurt. Doesn't seem to be much about that you can buy for dryness (if that's what it is!) x

Hmmm maybe I'll just give it a go! Can it do any harm if it's not that?

Just to rule it out, have you changed anything like washing powder/soap/shower gel? Have you bought any new pants? Have you been trying any new period products? That made me itch once.

youdontneedtopoo · 11/11/2023 07:07

You might have lichen sclerosus - when I had it thrush cream burned my skin so badly I had to wash it straight off. Got a steroid cream from the GP and it never came back.

Perfect28 · 11/11/2023 07:11

Never be scared to see a gp

Fidgergarden · 11/11/2023 07:14

In the interim, showering the area with very cold water will numb the itch for a while, and help break the itch/scratch cycle. I'd go for canesten tablet and cream to rule out thrush. Cutting out sugar and booze (sorry) helps if you get this a lot. Otherwise, GP or a sexual health clinic can take a swab.
Could be as simple as spiky hair regrowth if you've shaved, or allergy to something.
There's big debate about using soap around your vulva but I find washing with dove bar soap doesn't irritate, and can moisturise the skin there a bit.
It's miserable and you have my sympathy!

I was going to say you should see your Dr in case you’ve developed Lichen Sclerosis. It can at times make you feel as if your bits from your clitoris to your anus, or even just separate bits in between, have been put through a cheese grater you’ve scratched them so much.

ForfarBridie · 11/11/2023 07:18

And pls see your Doctor because Lichen Sclerosis never goes away though a person can go through long periods between flare ups. It’s important that it’s treated due to the very real increased risk of Vulval cancer when not treated properly.

canfor · 11/11/2023 07:20

How old are you? Can be a menopause thing.

ItsFunToBeAVampire · 11/11/2023 07:24

It sounds like thrush. When I get it, I usually just have intense itching and no other symptoms.
Creams never work for me so I always take the tablet, occasionally I have to take another a few days or a week later to fully kill it but it's never failed yet.
I've never had any side effects from the tablet so I'd take one anyway and you'll know in a day or 2 if it's worked.

Unwisebutnotillegal · 11/11/2023 07:48

Check for all of above but also consider threadworms. I’ve had patients where their vulva has itched and not their anus.

Goatymum · 11/11/2023 11:31

I had bad thrush without even knowing it as my GP did a swab for post-coital bleeding. I do have phases of being itchy down below but I am menopausal! I have a raised lymph node there atm which I have an appt for on Monday and thinking it could be result of thrush.

She clearly says she 25 and not menopausal 🫣🤦🏼‍♀️

Colalola · 11/11/2023 20:35

Right I've just picked up some caneston stuff a cream and a pessary. Better fucking work after £15 quid the bastards. Thank you for all your replies!

It is very expensive but hopefully will do the job and if it doesn't, you know to see your GP. They've seen it all before, so no need to be embarrassed.

How'd it go? I'd say try cannesten pessary & cream first

Bathe in salt water and also check if you've changed any variable - washing powder, shower liquid, soap, or worn a new type of clothing / underwear.

I often find for any inflammatory reaction that cutting out dairy and sugar until you get to the bottom of it really helps.

You also have a right to walk into your local Gynae Urgent care or sexual health clinic and ask for testing and advice as it's possible you've got an STD

Did you read the OP? It's right there. She's 25.

Livedandlearned · 02/12/2023 08:27

Cutting out high sugar items also helps with this issue.

sashh · 02/12/2023 08:34

Get a blood test, this was the only symptom I had for diabetes. Obviously it could be any of the aforementioned but it is worth checking.

Colalola · 31/01/2024 14:19

Sorry just incase anyone reads this in future I did infact grab an internal caneston and cream and it went away over night. Didn't have the typical symptoms of thrush or any pain/discharge but it was definitely thrush! Thanks for everyone's replies xx
