Would you worry about this?

Husband told me that on his usual walk today, he had to stop and sit down for five minutes because he felt he wasn't getting enough oxygen.

This is someone who brisk walks a couple of miles daily, and walks 10 plus miles at weekends, so not exactly unfit.

He said it's happened once before but that was over a year ago. That's a bit odd isn't it? He couldn't describe it any better than that. Said he wasn't in pain and wouldn't describe it as being out of breath, just felt like he hadn't got the energy to keep going.

Yes it would worry me a bit but then dh is always avoiding gp and never really sees them 😔. Your dh probably needs a gp phone appointment and blood work done as a precaution I guess.

Unfortunately mine is also a GP dodger and says he will get checked out if it happens again. It's been years since he had a check up.

Why would he get a sudden attack of fatigue in the middle of a morning walk when he does it every day? Makes no sense without an underlying cause.

How old is he?

Ncnccccc · 10/11/2023 21:13

I don't know. TBH it's impossible to say anything without gp advice.

It would worry me yes. Has he done a Covid test? When I had Covid, my main symptom was breathlessness, and I couldn't manage my usual short walks without sitting down.

Other than that, he should see the GP if it starts happening more frequently.

Was it cold where you are? Everything was frozen here this morning and I find in the cold that it feels like my lungs almost spasm. I feel like I cannot get enough oxygen when it's freezing. I think it's been a complication from previous pneumonia and collapsed lung.

That's just me though. Absolutely make sure he speaks to someone about this.

Hope he's ok? How old is he? He should definitely at least do an econsult.

  1. Doubt he has covid as only had it in sept and he hasn't got any other signs of illness.

He was absolutely fine after he'd sat down for five minutes, that's what's so odd about it.
