Over the last couple of weeks we've started noticing small bites on us, here and there, and on our ds (10mo). We have two cats, who get frontlined regularly but they do go out into a big overgrown garden so they could be bringing something in. We have tiled floors which we vacuum and mop regularly and one rug in the middle of the sitting room where ds often lies (he often has these bites after lying on it, on his back or on the back of his arms).

Last night I got bitten for the first time while sitting on the sofa.. they do not look like flea bites which we've had once (well, our cats, not us) years ago, and which are much smaller, very itchy and closer together. They are not mosquito bites which are more raised and itchy.

These are more painful than itchy, they are small with a red inflamed area around them and after a while (in my case overnight) a small white/yellow head (size of a pinprick) comes out on them.

Dh had 3 on his arm last night, going from wrist to upper arm about 6 inches apart.

WHAT THE HELL IS IT???? We cannot figure out how to get rid of it if we don't know what it is. It's mostly annoying for us but I hate the idea of ds being bitten. They are sore to the touch but not on their own. We do have ants occasionally, could it be ants?

Any ideas?

Bump for Maveta

are you sure they aren't bed bugs? They tend to go for wrists and that sort of area and often appear in lines.

gnats

hmmm.. thanks for the bump POTC and NL!

definitely not bed bugs, have seen those bites before and they are more like straight lines of bites close together, these are too random. Aren't gnats just like little mosquitos?

At any rate I don't know how to treat for anything except fleas so cats have been re-de-flead , carpets up on roof, sprayed vaccuumed, sofa covers to dry cleaners, all other stuff in the wash. Yay.. fingers crossed
