Cherries/dried cherries. Anti-inflammatory.

Just wanted to tell you about this as I know a lot of people suffer with inflammation.
I've had a lump on my finger joint for a while. Started off soft then became hard and painful. I've always used my fingers a lot with work and hobbies. I put it down to arthritis.
The lump started being sore (after a virus) and grew a little. So I did an econsult through our Gp.
I got an appointment for today and for the last few days I've been eating a few dried cherries as a snack as I'd read they're anti-inflammatory. I noticed my finger wasn't as sore and the lump looked smaller?
I've just come from the Gp and he was surprised at my finger as he had the photo on his screen. He couldn't believe the difference. So I told him about the cherries. He was actually interested and agreed that dried cherries did have health benefits.
Hopefully this isn't temporary. I'm going to keep having a few a day. I don't eat sweets or chocolate as don't have a sweet tooth. These are quite tart so suit me. Plus they go well with dark chocolate which I quite like 😁

Just thought I'd share as may be beneficial to someone?

Both DP and I swear by the power of dried cherries to help with inflammation type pain. I have a permanent hand injury and I really notice if I stop having my small handful every day.

DP has general age related wear and tear but his joints are so much better since I persuaded him to try my cherries.

I’m glad they are working for you

@Mossstitch hope they help? Do you do any exercise?

Not really since they closed my local pool and had long covid 2020 but I still work in the NHS in a quite physical role so that's as much as I can manage at the moment. There is a new pool going to be built a few minutes walk from me which I will use when it opens as I feel swimming is easier on your joints when your getting older. I have ordered my capsules though as I tweaked my knee the other day so I'll see if it helps🤔

You can buy montmoncerry cherry syrup on Amazon. It's packed with thousands of cherries. I have gout and ra and never had a second gout attack after needing emergency hip surgery for a septic gout episode. I'm not on gout medication either. I have one of these shakes every day.

10-12 frozen cherries
15ml wellgard cherry syrup
1 scoop of vanilla whey protein
1tbsp almond flour/ground almonds
1 drop of almond essence
1 measure of powdered collagen
1 measure of inulin
Tea spoon of chia seeds
200ml almond milk.

Blitz it all up and pour over ice and it tastes like cherry Bakewell.

And you can add kefir or natural yogurt to that to increase live bacteria add boost the thickness too.

Sounds good. I have most of those ingredients.

You ate in your fifties Op

hardly elderly. I’m less than 10 years younger than you and as active as I was in my twenties (more so as no longer drinking!)

for a gp to off handedly say “probably arthritis” would be very upsetting to me

It's very likely though. I was as fit as a flea at 55, by 60 I had osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis. It's just a fact that arthritis often starts in your 50s.

If I had a £1 for everyone who told me my arthritis could be cured if I ate turmeric or went gluten free or any of the many other "cures" around I would be rich but I'd still have arthritis.
Anyway cherries make a change.

No cherries won't help you sadly. It's terrible, you must be in so much pain. How frustrating when you'd been so healthy.
