Labrynthitis? How long does this go on?

ChirpyGirl · 10/03/2008 20:39

I was told I had labrynthitis 2 weeks ago, but had been having dizzy spells/headaches/nausea for about 5 or 6 days before that.
I am not getting dizzy anymore but am still getting near permanent headaches and am exhausted, should it go on this long? Does it? or shoudl I go back to GP?

She gave me some tablets (serc - 8) which have nearly run out and told me to take paracetemol but they are not helping now, plus I am BFing so don't like dosing with painkillers all the time just in case.
any advice? kind words? pat on the head? (gently though!)

I had this its hellish

TBH nothing helped except time - sorry!

harpsichordcarrier · 10/03/2008 21:20

oh poor you
I think it really varies - mine lasted a few weeks and just got gradually better.
are you getting enough rest?

NotQuiteCockney · 10/03/2008 21:22

It really varies. I get it every few months, but it lasts a max of 6 hours. (And is v mild, to be fair. I always get it after a head cold.)

The headaches and nausea sound very worrisome tbh - it would make me think that maybe the labyrinthitis wasn't the garden variety viral infection but a symptom of something else going on. Particularly as you say the nausea has stopped, but you have these other symptoms!

Back to the medics right away, please.

Thanks guys.
I will go back but 'luckily' last night i got out of bed too fast (literally jumped out as DD2 was hysterical), had a wave of dizziness and had to really concentrate not to be sick. Hopefully(!) it is still labs...

hi chirpy, I find you get to notice the signs that make the labrynthitis happen IYKWIM!

I can't lie in bed and turn to the left as my head swoons (and poor dh lies on the left!!)and I feel really dizzy. Thongs like jumping out of bed too fast and turning round too quick can bring it on. You'll get to pick up on these things. I hope you feel better soon, its a really orrible thing to have
