In agony with sciatica since August

Just that really. I have it just in one leg, all the way from my bum to my foot.
I've had flares ups every couple of years but they never usually last more than 2 weeks, but this current flare up has been ongoing since August.
I've been to the GP a few times and tried various painkillers and muscle relaxants (to help with the cramping at night when I'm in bed.
I've being taking regular exercise and I lead a healthy lifestyle, not overweight and don't drink or smoke. Desperate to get rid of this flare up as it feels like I'm being kicking hard in the shin and have something hitting my ankle at the same time :( Also hurts when I try to roll over in bed at night, can't get comfy and it's affecting my quality of life.
I take lots of multi vitamins as well as turmeric tablets as they're said to help with joint pain.
Any sciatica sufferers out there who could suggest anything else?

The only thing that helps with my sciatica is to focus on my back never slumping/rounding in the lumbar region…which is what triggers mine. So ai sleep with a memory foam lumbar pillow in the arch of my lower back, I have a lumbar support in my desk chair, car and anywhere I sit. I also do daily exercises where I lie flat on the floor on my tummy and then push up onto my elbows (so my back arches) while keeping my head and neck in a neutral position. I hold it for 3 seconds and the lower, then repeat 10 times…I do this every 2 hrs when it gets bad. You can also kind of do the stretch leaning against a wall if you are somewhere you cant lie down, but its not quite as effective. I also have these angled cork foot rest thingies that I stand on and they stretch my calf muscles..which really helps with aching calves, and I take 100% rda of magnesium at bedtime

maybe some of this might help you

Every sympathy. Cortisone injected in my spine changed my life in the space of one day. I was in agony five years ago, rattling with tramadol, Valium, gabapentin, you name it. Was swigging oramorph from a bottle by the day I went in for the injections and I walked out of the hospital that day pain free. Five years later still no problem. Unbelievable, I know it doesn’t work for everyone but when it does it’s life changing
