I just had a baby 2 weeks ago and so have been seeing the midwife as per usual procedure.
Last Monday I mentioned to her that I thought I was possibly getting a urine infection, so she took a sample and sent it off to hospital for me. She said that results would be back at my Drs surgery by last Wed/Thurs and that if anything showed up they would call me to go collect a prescription for anti b's (have been thru this process before and the receptionist normally calls and just says 'there's a prescription here for you to collect').
Well I heard nothing last week and my symptoms had cleared up on their own so I assumed no infection showed up.
Got a phone call today from receptionist who says that the Dr needs to call me tomorrow at 11.30am for a 'telephone consultaion' regarding the sample I sent in
Am a bit worried about why! Does this sound like a standard procedure to you or does it sound odd??
I will worry until tomorrow now!!

Not sure but my GP called me at home last week to follow up on a previous consultation.

Perhaps GO just has some straight forward advice wants to give you but know that coming into the surgery with 2week old could be a bit tricky.

I think it sounds like they found an infectiona nd the doctor is phoning to tell you to come ina nd collect a prescription . That's what happens with my surgery- the receptionists don't pass that information on and the doctor would want to make sure you understood what you had been told. Don't worry!
(Congrats, I had a baby 2 weeks ago too - funnily enough I think I'm brewing a UTI as well but haven't managed to get to surgery yet, mainly because I had a cs and can't blimmin well drive)

Sounds like there may be an infection and given that you have had them before and you have just had a baby he wants to talk to you about the prescription.

I expect he wants to ask whether you are breast feeding and that kind of thing which would have a bearing on what he prescribes. It wouldn't be fair for the receptionist to have to ask you this so he is doing it himself.

It doesn't sound abnormal to me - I think I have had the same thing at least once before myself.

Don't worry - even if you have something you feel OK so it can't be too bad.

Don't worry it may just be he wants to discuss the treatment with you, the sample coming through the midwife will probably have flagged you have a small baby and may be breast feeding or something they probably just want to check that before prescribing anything.

Doesn't sounds odd to me. I frequently ring patients about their test results, as it's not fair on a non-medically trained receptionist to explain them and answer questions. I would also guess that they may want to check whether you are BFing and that everything is OK before they consider prescribing.

Don't stress about it!
