Hemorrhoids/piles -anyone got rid of them?

I have suffered with hemorrhoids/piles since having my child 16 years ago.

They are a pain in the ass (literally) but I usually have a flare up and after a couple of weeks of using the creams and suppositories, they ease until the next flare up.

But I’m really struggle at the moment.

This time I have had what I believe (after researching) a thrombosed pile which has been absolute agony.
It has been 2 months of using the creams and suppositories and I’m still in pain.

The lumps have reduced massively and the pain is no where near as bad as it was but I’m still struggling.
The pain is less on the outside now and it’s more on the inside.
Sitting, walking etc for too long is difficult.
I have not had a full nights sleep for these 2 months.

I had put on weight after stopping smoking and bought an exercise bike to help lose the weight and I think the bike was what made them worse.
I have not been on it for the past month at least.

I’m really embarrassed going to the doctor about it, especially because I have gained so much weight and I’m ashamed about taking my trousers off/pulling them down.

Has anyone had them removed?
Did the gp have to check them?

I've had them since birth of my child who's now 12 years old. I take movicol daily but the flares up happen ALOT. I actually ended up in A&E as my thrombosed pile kinda burst (I guess) the amount of blood meant I couldn't leave the toilet and pads needed changing every 10mins. Hospital then referred me to have colonscopy which was awful. They found a grade 4 thrombosed hemorrhoid and told me it needs to be removed surgically. No creams or suppositories will help. I'm at the consultation tomorrow to discuss work childcare and of course PAIN !! I feel your pain 100% 😞

Regular baths with Epsom salts.
High fibre diet.
The moment I feel even the slightest discomfort I have a bath with Epsom salts and it makes a massive difference. I had such a massive pile the doctor thought I’d need surgery but I managed to get rid of it.

Really.... see I have had the option of surgery but chickened out many times. Changed my diet and alcohol consumption and hasnt helped myy piles.. what's the high fibre diet you do? Do you still have flare ups?

@Rathernotsay88 how was the op and recovery please ?

I found consistently sitting on iced peas helped mine. If it flares up I take fibrogel until it improves. I also use a germoloid suppository if I know I am going to do something that risks a flare up, eg going out for a meal having having to sit for hours on an uncomfortable chair. If it is a really bad flare up I will use weeks course of scheriproct but due to the steroids I use this only if things are bad. I have now got things pretty much under control after 1 year of suffering. So much so I didn't need to see the colorectal doctor once I got to the top of the waiting list.

@Screwdrivver glad you are in a better place with it I cannot wait to have surgery to remove them for good
