Not a diabetic but parents by t2. Feels shaky and headaches for week on and off rubbish. I got a blood sugar reader thing from amazon (I know, I know) just taken a reading and it's 2.4mmol obviously I've googled and panicked so downed a cake bar and some lucazade. Should I contact gp or is this considered normal? This was a couple of hours after eating some nuts if that helps. I just finished a night shift where i ate throughout, thanks

2.4 is much too low, 4 is the floor. You did the right thing taking sugar but try to take something else now that will help your blood sugar stabilise over the morning, a poached egg on granary toast maybe. Keep a diary of your readings to show the GP.

2.4 is very low , experiencing hypoglycemia without being on insulin therapy is definitely not normal and I would reccomend contacting your gp

Yes you need to contact your GP. Try taking a reading about an hour after eating a balanced meal, and upon waking from a "night" of sleep (it'll be day time if you're on nights!). Keep a record and provide to your GP.

That’s a very low reading, but it’s unlikely to be caused by diabetes. Diabetes causes high readings. If a diabetic person is injecting insulin (or other medications) then it can sometimes cause low readings. If your blood glucose level is very low without medication you should see your GP.

Diabetes doesn’t cause low readings unless you are on certain diabetes medications such as insulin. If you are concerned I would discuss with your GP.
Another possibility is a badly calibrated glucometer
