Does anybody know what this means?

I had a letter through the post today following a recent ultrasound on my heart. It said I had all was structurally normal heart with a 'preserved lv function' - does anybody know what this means?

It means your LV function is normal. But it’s usually used to refer to heart failure where the LV ejection fraction is preserved. Without knowing the reason for the echo it’s difficult to comment on what they’re implying - it might be that the person who requested the echo has made specific inquiry about your LV function on the form as a possible explanation for your symptoms - so the report writer is directly addressing this by referring to preservation. HF with preserved EF would normal have some other abnormality on the echo such as diastolic dysfunction, so my guess is that you’ve a totally normally heart with normal LV function.

I had the echo for tachycardia and increased heart rate. Which was noted on the letter - but then followed with the below:

"Reassuringly she has a structurally normal heart with preserved LV function, normal chamber dimensions and no valvular abnormalities."

So I can take away that everything looks 'normal' besides the tachycardia? I got worried as when I googled that it comes home with HF!
