Hand eczema will not go

Hello, just wondering if anyone has experienced similar. When I was pregnant I developed hand eczema on the backs of my hands and between my fingers. Since I had my little girl I've tried all sorts, steroid creams, fungal creams and nothing works. It goes while treated then returns within a couple of days once I stop treatment. I wear gloves for literally everything. Constantly moisturising. I've racked my brain and there's nothing I'm coming into contact with that could be doing it. Has anyone had similar and got to the bottom of it? Never had any problems with eczema before this. It doesn't even flare up and down it's just always there itching and peeling.

I had eczema on my face last year, nothing worked at all long term then someone suggested I used plain Vaseline and low and behold it cleared up!

Try getting rid of perfumed stuff, I am allergic to perfume which is in so many products it’s quite amazing even stuff that is sold as for sensitive skin, looking at you sanex shower gel.

I would just stop using the rubber gloves as well to try that route.

I had this, to the point it covered the palms of my hands it would be infected and bleed it was horrific. Even anti biotic steroid creams wouldn't work. I tried everything through the doctors and it would not go. When I started work in a spa using massage oils everyday, this cured mine entirely, even now when I've left my job I use any massage oil at least twice a day and it's kept it gone a year later! Please try it I couldn't believe after years of trying everything using simple oils on my hands worked! Doesn't have to be fancy any oil does the job but apply it throughout the day regularly.

You need to ask for a referal as the advuce dermatology gave me was different to the GP and their derm advice actually cleared my eczema.

for example to clear a flare up you need lots of steroid cream, GP will say use spearing so will never clear. GP does not know that you need to wean the steroid cream otherwise it just comes back.

The trick is with any steroid cream (and elocon is the best) is to use it solidly for two weeks or so, until your skin is clear. Then wean off it. So once a day for a week, then every other day for a week, then every third day for a week etc etc.

If you treat and stop treatment immediately the eczema always returns as it's not properly treated.

Plus use old fashioned bar soap NOT hand wash. And a good moisturiser for eczema like doublebase (again unscented).

I'm an eczema pro as my eldest DD has had it since a baby. She's 15 now and rarely has a flare up.

She mainly had it on her hands

Thanks everyone. I think Elocon is a strong one from what I've read and I used it for two weeks. Doc said to use it until it clears and then for a week after. Maybe I should have weaned off it? Or maybe I didn't use it for long enough. I've got another doctor's appointment next week so I'm going to see about a referral and allergy testing.

Good luck. When i contacted the gp about my face I got offered a steroid cream. It wouldn't have worked as it was fumes from a broken wax burner that was causing it. I had to go through bupa and get allergy testing which I where I discovered I was allergic to a few things plus epoxy resin which was the wax burner. If I'd stuck to gp I'd still be smearing steroid cream over my face
