Can someone help me understand these thyroid blood results please?

I've had some bloods taken recently because of some odd symptoms and a previous history of sub clinical hypothyroidism.

I'm apparently waiting for a call back re the results, but I can also see them on the NHS app and have the following:

Serum TSH level 5.22 mU/L

Normal range 0.3 - 4.5

Serum Free T4 level 11.0 pmol/L

Normal range 11.0-22.0

It strikes me that the second one is right on the limit.

Same test also flags abnormal non -fasting lipids

6.8mmol/L

Normal range 2.5- 6.5.

What questions should I be asking please? These symptoms have gone on for a couple of years now.

NICE guidelines are to treat the symptoms, especially with borderline results. I limped on for 2 years with similar TSH feeling like absolute shite, then they peaked at 14,straight back for meds. 2 years later still trying to get the dose right but getting there...

Getting the right dosage is hard but focus on how you feel not just on the bloods. You will likely be put on a low dosage at first, maybe 75 micrograms. It takes weeks to have a real noticeable effect. Keep getting bloods checked at regular intervals and don’t get fobbed off with ‘but you’re in the normal range’ if you continue to feel unwell.

Thanks both.
