Worried about blood results

Can anyone look over my blood results please? I have made an appointment with my GP but they don't appear concerned and it isn't for a while. I have the blood tests done because of dizziness (especially on standing). GP tested blood pressure for POTS but seemed fine.

The only one outside the reference range is mean platelet volume but I was also wondering if sodium looks a bit low and potassium a bit high which may cause dizziness? They always struggle to take my blood which I read may cause the high potassium level?

My blood pressure is usually around 110/65

I am taking a calcium, K2 and vit B supplement due to poor bone density.

For POTS did you stand up for a while and test if your heart rate rises a lot? That's the quick version of a tilt table test, which is what you need for a POTS diagnosis.

The potassium could have been caused if you had to pump your fist or slap ypur arm over the vein to get the blood. Last time I had a blood test the potassium was scarily high after a good deal of slapping the back of my hand. I was reassured by reading the info link our GP puts on test results.

Not a doc.

Thanks for your reply. Yes the GP tested my heart rate on standing for POTS (sorry I typed blood pressure, but it was heart rate).

The nurse always finds it difficult to take my blood, I often have to go to the hospital to get it done. I think it took her 3 attempts and they came out very slowly which I guess could explain the high potassium?

Wish i could get my b12 as high as yours
Mine sits about 300 nowadays

Mpv - mine was out range but they looked at medical history and said mine always had been & some people just are

Hope you feel less dizzy soon

They do tend to get in touch quick if theres a problem..

Have you / they considered vertigo?

Weepingskies · 23/10/2023 11:55

Absolutely nothing in those blood test results that would worry me.

ChickpeaPie · 23/10/2023 12:00

Those bloods are all in the normal range

worldwidetravel2017 · 23/10/2023 12:16

You could try and get your feretin a bit higher

I prefer mine to be over 100

Felt amazing for a week when an iron iv got it to 250

Do you have lotsa iron rich foods ? Wheatabix? Raisins ? Apricots ? Kale ? Peas ?

If your a female with regular periods - you'll probably feel a bit better if you get feretin higher
Apple juice etc

Potassium can also rise if there’s a time lapse from when the blood is taken to when it arrives at the lab.

The problem with being able to see blood results is that you try to interpret them. Leave this to the doctor. Those are all within the normal range so no cause of concern

Thanks all, very reassuring. @worldwidetravel2017 It could be vertigo, thanks I will mention it when I speak with the GP. Also good advice on the iron, I will try to up this in my diet.

Does anyone know what high mean platelet volume relates to?
