Blood clot in leg following stroke

I wondered if anyone has experience of this. Or any advice please.

My Dad (86) had a stroke a month ago, has been very poorly. He's got a bad sore on his foot that's not been healing and I pushed for them to look into it. Yesterday, after a Doppler scan, we were told he has a large blood clot in his leg, he's too poorly for them to remove the clot and it will get infected and the leg will die. He's too poorly for them to amputate it. They've said "it is likely to kill him".

I asked how it is likely to play out and how long he has and all they said was they were taking it a day at a time, but it's likely to be quick. No idea if that means, days, weeks or months.

Anyone had similar experience, I'd really appreciate it. I just don't know what to expect. Good or bad. I'd rather know. Thank you

Mm all a bit vague Usually people who have had a blood clot
are put on a blood thinner eg Warferin You need to ask why this has not been done You need a second opinion from a Consultant

It’s an arterial blood clot - the management is totally different to a venous clot.
