Is there any such thing as a tonic?

My boys have both had chicken pox over the last month, but it's not for them.

I've found this really hard work DS2 particularly, depending on how sympathetic I feel, has either had a really bad time with it, or made a huge fuss over it. They're both better now, but I feel absolutely exhausted. I've been to be before 9pm 3 nights this week. I feel a bit coldy, have a stiff neck and a headache I can't shift.

Does anyone know of a pick me up I can take. My Gran used to take "tonic wine", but I suspect that was just a way for a Methodist to get a drink

Do tonics really exist/work?

try elder berry extract from health food shop which is a general booster for the immune system

plus I always recommend Kiki superfood (a powder you add to drinks) which is expensive but absoulutely brilliant

Or alternatively [wide smile to Franny] go to chemist or supermarket and buy Mindadex Tonic. Is packed with sugar and vitamins, and does pick them up quick.

Oh shit, it's for you? Sorry, I thought it was for the children. Right listen to Franny then.

[wide smiles all round]

No, they don't. I get peppered at work with all sorts of products, but I don't believe in any of them.

Keep going to bed early, eat reasonably OK, don't drink too much booze, try and get some exercise when you've recovered sufficient energy to do so. There's no miracle cure, but you can get your energy back; mine plummets revoltingly from time to time, but you do get it back.

And/or go to the GP and get your iron etc tested.

Lots and lots of fruit. A really good way to get good sugars, vitamins and trace elements. Diet is SO important.

You may also be getting a cluster headache if you can't shift it. Sort of a migraine without the bells and whistles. Aspirin, rest, camomile tea to make sure your sleep is good quality.
