Flu jab. Beginning to feel grim

Had the jab four hours ago. Beginning to feel grim. Headachey, chest-achey. Paracetamol and tea. Surely it's too soon to feel side effects? I was expecting to feel rough tomorrow. Flu jab never affected me until Covid. Since then I have had to take a day off work after every jab. Hence scheduling it for a Saturday morning.

Just feeling sorry for myself. Ugh.

Same for me except it lasted about a week after my jab. But the same has happened the last 2 years.

Felt really shivery then hot, then sweaty, started to sneeze lots then developed a sore throat and runny nose, felt really lethargic. I did 3 covid tests all negative as I was going to see a friend who is not in the best of health, so I decided to put it off until I felt better.

Hope you feel better soon

I had mine on Tuesday and was wiped out the next day. Ok by Thursday though. Not looking forward to my covid booster as I was rotten after the last one

gotomomo · 14/10/2023 16:44

I had no I'll effects this year except a sore arm, had covid vaccine at the same time. I had the under 65's version which apparently is different

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 14/10/2023 16:46

I think you've been really unlucky. I had mine last Friday and I've been fine.

Hope the paracetamol and tea are helping Flowers

I had mine on Wednesday. Slept a lot Wednesday night and had a sore arm. Fine Thursday Friday. But today I've felt a bit off, headachey and feeling sick. I hope it's just delayed effects of the jab and I'm not actually getting ill

SorryWorry · 14/10/2023 17:02

I had flu and covid jab both in the same arm on Thursday. Had a very sore arm yesterday and then started feeling very tired and achy yesterday lunchtime. Had an early night and woke up feeling absolutely fine this morning but arm still sore. Hope your side effects are short lived OP.

Most of you seem to have the side effects the following day or later, as I expected I would. It could be coincidences, I suppose, and I'm coming down with something else entirely.

Paracetamol and Truly, Madly, Deeply have helped 😉

I had the flu jab first thing this morning. Started feeling dizzy around 2hrs later, then developed a splitting headache. Spent most of the day feeling exhausted. Headache is now fading, but still feel tired.

Either coincidence or, in the kindest possible way, your experience during Covid has set off a nocebo effect. In other words, your apprehension of the shot tricking your body into an adverse reaction. It's a funny thing with vaccinations - during Covid testing a lot of volunteers who didn't receive the vaccine itself developed just as heavy reactions, accounting for about two thirds of side effects.

Lucky that paracetamol works on nocebos, too, then 😆

Did your sickness soon clear @Underneaththestars ? I had my flu jab a couple of days ago, had the achy arm, tiredness but today randomly feeling nauseous . Also hoping it’s a side effect and I’m not coming down with something!

Underneaththestars · 26/11/2023 12:49

@cloud44 I can't quite remember so it must have cleared up quickly!

Aparecium · 26/11/2023 15:14

I was absolutely fine by the time I went to bed. Could even sleep on the vaccinated side.

Perhaps it was GrumpyPanda telling me about nocebo effect that did it! 😄
