Hi

I am going crazy wondering if I am in menopause or not.

I have recently had a 4 months absence on my af. Tests found that a underactive thyroid may have caused this also hormones were tested and my FSH was high also possibly caused by the thyroid. Previous to this I did have irregular periods, and on the odd occasions I would skip one.

I am now on thyroxine and cycle did return Decemeber and on its return they have remained irregular with a 23 day cycle and a 33 day cycle.

I am now on cd 37 with no sign of af.
As well as the irregular periods I have not felt right in myself for a while with symptoms such as fatigue, racing heart, and getting cold and then too hot.

A second fsh test showed that my fsh was okay at 7.

My doctor now doesn't think I can be menopausel as he said my normal fsh level indicates I am not.

I have also carried out 2 fsh home tests and they were negative meaning my fsh must be okay.

Is it possible to be in menopause and for your fsh to still be normal.

Please help I am going mad wondering as I am also ttc my 2nd dc and have been doing so for 7 months with no luck.

Hi, I was just wondering if you have had your thyroid rechecked. It could be that you are not yet on the correct dose of thyroxine. I have an underactive thryoid and i experience all the symptoms you mention. I also find that my thyroid is unstable around 'that' time of the month so, you may notice a difference when you are ovulating or about to start.

My cycle very short, 21 days but it is regular. Thyroid problems can upset your cycle though.

I don't think it's the menopause. Try not to worry

By the way, i forgot to say that your symptoms are typical of when you are receiving too much thyroxine. I do think your doctor should recheck your levels.
