Teeth grinding/clenching when sleeping

My partner keeps waking me up to say I'm grinding my teeth and when I wake up in the morning my jaw feels achey and tense. I can't seem to stop and wondered if others experience similar? It's causing me to have a lot of migraines that I am on sumatriptan for (but only allowed 6 tablets a month for these which I always run out of).
I have tried a mouth guard previously but noticed no difference. Although maybe could have tried it longer.
Does anyone else have any other solutions?

Botox for bruxism. It relaxes the Masseter muscle and gives relief. NHS offer it but only to those to “qualify “. You can get out done privately at many aesthetics clinics or dentists for around £300 every 6 months

I do the same. My dentist made me a mouth guard and i honestly cant sleep without it now.

Posted to early. I hated the mouth guard in the beginning too but after a few weeks it started making a difference. The only orher option is botox in the muscles that are tense.

Thank you for the replies!
I am due a dental appointment soon so will ask about getting one made. The one I have is from boots and isn't ideal.
I've also looked into Botox so that could be another option!
Thank you!

Mine was anxiety related. I tried relaxation exercises during the day which helped, along with trying to understand the root cause of my anxiety. I also became more aware that I was grinding my teeth in the day as a stress release. I actively had to teach myself to stop when doing it. It has mostly worked, but I find myself doing again in times of high stress.

Definitely go back to your dentist and ask for other mouth guard options. They are not all the same and maybe he can recommend one that will suit you better. I am a grinder and my molars are cracked, I'm about to get a crown fitted because of this. My dentist also suggested botox to relax the muscles but she doesn't offer it in her clinic so I haven't got it done yet.
